Default HELP: Hesitation problem...

I have a 2005 BMW 545i, it currently has just about 95K miles. I am experiencing a hesitation/ misfire (throws a quick service light, then it disappears) at low RPMs... say around 1500 rpm. I just performed an online change, a buddy of mine suggested replacing the spark plugs will do the job... however, before I dump money in hopes to finding a solution, I wanted BMW enthusiasts to input their opinion. Please feel free to speak your mind. thanks!

If you didn't change the spark plugs at 50k I would go head and do it now. I changed my spark plugs in my car at 57k and at 98k that's me being anal about maintenance though. What's a online change? Did you mean oil change? Did you check for any loose wires anything out of the ordinary under your hood?

Interesting... I had misfire at 48k and I only change that one spark plug #2 to be precised. And now the car is only 2k more (50k) Would y'all recommend me to change ALL of the spark plugs or should I wait a little more?

Sn3akerh3ad most likely changing the spark plug is your best route cuz the exact same thing happened to me. (freaked the hell out of me when it happened).

If you read your owners manual (maintenance) schedule, I believe it says you should change your spark plugs at 50k, but it's up to you though . Each person takes care of their car differently then others. For example I usually do oil changes at 7k. I don't wait till I get the service warning appearing. That's just me being anal on maintenance though. I've always believed if you give your car the proper maintenance it will last you longer

You are right, with proper maintenance it should definitely last longer. The problem is when i bought the car last year Jan 2012, I have a feeling they did not change the sparks. Will definitely do so in the coming months. I think i have some work to do this Spring season.

Thanks tho'.

I had a misfire in cylinders #1 & #3 that cause a slight hesitation every now and then (60k miles), I changes the plugs and problem solved. She runs like a dream.
