Help with Headlights
Hi everyone, thanks to this forum I was able to install new Morimoto 3five to replace my OEM HID lights. Installation went well and the instructions from this forum were great.
My issue - After installation, I tried them and what I found was that they will flicker and not turn on at all. I get the malfunction notice as usual
BUT when i turn them off and then ON, they work, when I steer, the adaptive part works. Can anyone tell me or help me figure our why it wont come on the first time I turn them on?
What led me to change was one light was turning pinking and went out so I decided to replace both, all the research I saw was about the green light in the car flickering, I am not having that issue,
Any help would be appreciated, I have a 2009 528i with xdrive LCI
thanks in advance

It's possible that it's the ballast that is on its way out. So when you give it another try, it starts at times.
Try swapping the ballast from left to right and see if that symptom shifts over.

When I turn them on after a car start, nothing happens other than three flickers on both sides and the same time, then I turn the lights off, and then ON, and they come on beautifully.

You must have one of the old bulbs that was still working, can you put back that old bulb and see if the symptoms continue.
We can confirm/rule out the problem is with the new bulbs by trying the old bulb.

Meanwhile from more and more reading that I have been doing, I want to make sure while i have he lights out, I can take full advantage of anything else during that time period , any suggestions? I am going to use di-electric grease for all connections based on some reading and recheck to make sure all connections are secure.
Thanks for all your input, appreciate it..

An update to my situation, I put the old bulbs in and they worked like it supposed to, no flickering no issues with the auto feature like the new ones
Called two people at two different times at TRS, the one told me to get new bulbs as these bulbs may not be compatible and the other told me that it may take 30 or so hours for them to break in, so until then operate the lights in manual mode. Not sure I want to wait 30 hours but to those reading this, it seems like the bulb is the issue?
