Question

I just put on my new oem 166 rims with 245/35/19 and 275/30/19. After I left the tire shop my IDrive screen shows a "flat tire" warning. All the tires are fine and with air. I have a 2004 525i and it did NOT have run-flat tires prior to this. What should I do? Thanks.

Presuming you initialized all systems correctly when swapping the tires, I would say to check tire pressure again.

Im not too sure what initializing all the systems correctly consist of. They simply installed the oem 166 rims with the tires. If the pressure checks out what should i do next. Thanks.

Go into your owner's manual. It will describe how to reinitialize the TPM. You need to reset it thru the Idrive.

This forum is the best. I just went into IDrive and re-set the tire pressure monitor for my new tires. THE WARNING IS GONE! Sorry im a newbie and only had this car for 2 months. Do you have to do this everytime you add are or change tires?

Yes, everytime you add air or change a tire. The system you have, like me, is the FTM or Flat Tire Monitor. It works based on the spin rate of the wheels. A tire with low air pressure or going flat will spin faster, setting off the warning. Even if the new tires are inflated correctly, they will spin at a meaningfully different rate than the old wheel/tire combo, hence the warning. For the future, I have had my warning go off with one tire as little as 5 psi lower than the rest so it is a fairly sensitive system.

Ok. I feel a lot better now. I was starting to think that the 166's were bad for my car. Anything else I need to know... beside to watch out for curbs with my new rims!
