Hey guys, just got my dension GW500 and I can't for the life of me install it...NONE of the plugs will fit my existing equipment. The plugs for the dension to CDC won't fit into the back of my CDC and the plug for the Dension to the car won't connect to the car...What am I doing wrong? I'm getting soo pissed and annoyed. please help.

Thanks,

Matt

all u do

is take off the cd changer fibre optic connector (on the car) and pop the connector that came with the dension straight onto the fibre cable and then put that connector directly into the dension

I used THESE instructions from member Muttley when I did mine and it went in without a hitch! Cheers Muttley.

Bruce has his OEM bits and bobs only install HERE too. Not tried this but Bruce is a genius at this stuff so I'm guessing it works prefectly

Hope this helps

Marc

I just had mine installed on a '06 e61 here in Maryland.

The audio tech eventually got it right but it was an interesting journey. If he had made a call to http://www.mass.ca(an official distributor in US) sooner than later it would have literally saved 7hrs+ over 2dys of headaches and frustration. Pride is not a good thing, humility is the way for sure.
The Dension Gateway 500 installation is pretty simple if understood correctly. He eventually called MASS over an hr into the second day. Eveything is working very well now. He charged me $70 for the install, and I am fine with this.

It's great to be able to play directly from a USB drive. It read music from my wifes Olympus LS-10 PCM(personal digital recorder) without an issue.

So try giving MASS Electronics a call and speak to Mariusz. He was extremely helpful even after hours.

read the directions provided with the dension- you need to remove the fiber optic cables from the BMW sleeve/jacket/cover/whatchamacallit and insert them into the dension provided one. as far as power, read Bruce's post on how to use OEM parts, or just splice into the CD changer lines.

WOWOW after several hours and many many cuts and gashes on my hands I FINALLY got it working. For the record the dension directions are the WORST!! Someone really should write up a proper DIY for this

And I hid everything, all you see is the Ipod Input, USB input, and Aux input. I LOVEEEE THIS thing. its like OEM integration but better. It keeps everything connected including my CDC

no, u have to remove the fiber optic cable and plug it into a dension cable then plug in a cable from the dension into the CDC plug. After you do that then it is all plug and play. But its tricky and the splicing of wires wasnt too bad either, just funny that the dension instructions make ZERO mention of splicing wires.

You spliced wires??? hmmm maybe just for the power.. but the other stuff is just plug and play. Fiber optic's all need to be in a loop to work. Its fairly simple once u get the hang of it.
