HELP Cleaning Gauges

My Ride: 2006 BMW 550i "Ben Hogan's 5 Iron"
SilverGrey/Black Sport, L7, NAV, CW, AS, Split FR
2003 Audi A4 3.0 CVT "Part of the Moniker"
Silver/Ebony, Prem, CW, Star 17s
Hi all,
Every car I've owned the gauges were scratched by cleaning.
Any advise on this??
Its drives me nuts that this happens all the time. :'( I tried camera glass cleaning pads and solutions and no luck. Heck, I wiped (first time) the dust off my wood center console (flat part by the gear selector) and, WHAM, really noticeable scratches. I HATE THIS.
Needless to say, my gauges are getting alittle dusty right now.

If it's just getting dusty, you might want to try a can of compressed air (i.e. The ones that you use to clean your keyboard from stores like office depot or staples). That should work IMO.

If you do see scratches...
I have used the plastic polish that comes in two types to remove any light scratches.
These is made by Meguires. One is #10 Clear plastic Polish. This is followed by # 17 Clear Plastic Cleaner.
They sell these at my BWM dealer. I bought mine at NAPA.
Great for getting minor scratches out of clear plastic.

Well, don't wait till they get all dusty and dirty, clean them now! You are scrathching them with the stuff that is ON the gauges right now. The longer you wait, the more stuff will be there, and the more chances to scratch 'em.

The problem with compressed air is that they have oil in the air. And thus spraying it on your surface.
Perhaps some of the same wipes that you use on a computer screen or LCD should work. Pick some up at CompUSA or Best Buy.

I use it to clean my R1100S boxer cup, and the perplex on the windscreen when flying and it also is works great on the plastic lens covers for the headlights.
