Help! Changed front tire now lights on...
#1
Hello All,
This will sound very newbie but I just recently changed my front drivers side tire to a general exclaim uhp tire and now the dynamic stability control (I believe thats what is what displaying) icon is flashing warning me. The icon picture display looks like one tire is taller than the other. The other three tires are toyos but the toyo on the passengers is of course the same size as the general uhp (245/18 in the fronts). I was trying to replace the drivers side front with the same toyo but they were unavailable. My suspension is off too of course, steering wheel is not center and sways off. Should I just get another general tire on the other side to even out ? Alignment, but is one tire really taller than the other even though the same size ? Any input would help, thank you in advance!

I always thought it's better to change at least 2 tires at a time to have at least some sort of balance/symmetry? Did you reset/check the TPM's?

Even if they do match, manufacturers vary a little bit in sizes, but I wouldn't think that enough to throw off your steering. I'll be willing to bet you got a 245/35 or 245/45 General tire.

Its not just the rated tyre size that matters - it is the actual size also.
By maths, the distance a tyre goes per revolution is 3.14 x diameter. So if a new tyre has say 10mm tread and a worn one 2mm, then surely the new one will travel 8x2x3.14 = 50mm further per turn than the old one. Hence confusing the heck out of the ABS / traction control sensors.
Always change in pairs unless can match age, make/compound and size
