Thumbs down

Hi. I have a 2006 E60 530d M Sport Auto. About a month ago I started to get a check message come up that the front left parking light had failed and then almost immediatly the right one failed. When you switch the lights on the check message goes and the lights work. On Monday I was on a 300 mile drive and I noticed the dials all dropped out and read zero even though I was doing @90mph. This only last a couple of seconds and did not repeat. Later in the journey the PDC warning message came up and said they had failed. This message went out and came back on about 5 times that day. The lights thing is also still happening.

Tonight I started the car and got about thirty feet and as usual the PDC and lights message appeared. Then all the warning lamps came on on the dashboard and all the dials went mad. On the screen it said "Central electrical unit failure" Do not continue, pass go etc. This lasted @30 seconds and then went out with everything going back to normal. I carried on and then went i got back in the car exactly the same thing happened.

Anybody had this happen and/or got any ideas?

Thanks,

KJ

You need a new alternator or new battery. Tell the dealership. Same thing happened to me and they replaced my alternator.

Thanks Nigxdoof. Did it fail completely or did it take its time to die?

Not sure,

I had that happen while i was going to the delership. Luckily they were able to take care of it right then and there.

But I did notice my stereo kept cutting off that probably was a sign of the Amp turning on and off or something.

Interesting my right parking lights failed. Dealer replaced the bulb, the following week my left parking lights fail, I was driving with a burnt out halo for a month and all of the sudden they turned on and a few days later. the right parking lights fail and this is the bulb I got replaced and just a few days later miraculous the parking light turned on. I am going to call my SA and schedule an appointment I don't like these warning signs
