need help here. my e60 originally came with idrive ccc that had the cd and dvd drive from 2005 (it only has the eject buttons and a left and right arrow on the face). I was wondering if a newer professional ccc will work (the ccc with the 1-8 number buttons on it) and if my original controller and steering wheel controls will work. Please let me know. Thanks!

Yes it will work with coding - but you will need to buy an LCI (2008+) dash panel which means you will then most likely want to upgrade your climate control to LCI as well because the middle buttons are bigger. Not really worth it in my opinion.

You will also most likely lose voice commands, agreed that it's not worth it.

Not worth it, unless it bothers you soooooo much and you want a newer look inside your car to please yourself and don't mind putting in the work or paying out.
Personally you should probably just devote the time and funds to a psychiatrist then because the issue with not stop itself there. I'm dead serious not trying to be insulting.

Wow.... If your not trying to be insulting, you did the worst job possible. The only reason I asked is because my original CCC went out. Dealer wants $1000 with the core to replace and that does not include install or programming. I found a newer style CCC, as described, and wanted to know if it would be possible to use this as it is much much cheaper. I can install it myself but before I go through all the psychiatric help...I want to make sure it will work for my application instead of using the rest of my funds for a bankruptcy lawyer and not a psychiatrist.

Ok well you didn't state that. So look at my position. Here we have a guy with a CCC and is perfectly fine but he wants to go all out of his way with time and money to put in a CIC. For what purpose? So you can look at it everyday and feel better? So your passengers can feel better or be impressed? Now you see where I'm coming from.
You can buy a used CCC and it may need programming or not, but even if so, you can program it yourself (and everything else in your car) for less than $200. I am sure you can find a CCC for about $300 or so. Probably wouldn't even need programming for it to work.
Sorry to hear your troubles. Hope it all works out. I deal with IRS tax issues not bankruptcy and after getting graduating masters in psychology I gave up trying to help the lonely sheep of this world.
