That would have been funny. I wonder what the techs would have thought?
Then after paying them a mortgage your idrive might not work due to a fuse and they will tell you it's all the suspensions fault and replace all that.
The problem here is thinking that other people know more about things that you do when sometimes these guys are complete muppets.
Glad you got it sorted.
After getting 2 tyre warnings in December and replacing the 2 front tyres I am slowly getting over the FOTB (fear of the beep).
Every time I start the car it beeps (cold weather warning) and I automatically think "Crap, the puncture fairys have visited again".

They would have told you that they need to give you a new gearbox.

Thanks again to the forum for all their help... <sigh> It's things like this that make me miss the manual tranny in my old M5!

Okay, I'm an idiot. I just realized I must've accidentally bumped the shift lever to the left into the sport manual mode when I was putting my iPod back into the car. I moved it to the right and the "P" on the lever stopped blinking. I never bothered checking it was in the original position. I guess it needs to be in the right most position to shift into drive or reverse.
Thanks for the article... I guess the car and driver writers are as dumb as I am since they had the same problem as me!

Look at your manual. I think that there may be away to reset the knob by taking off the plate around the gear shift.
Im sure I read something about this in my manual. Will look it up when I get home.

[QUOTE=rackhacker9275;1594184]Hi guys/gals
After soldering the wires the stereo guy cut, I put everything back together and now the GEAR shift light is out and it will not shift from PARK,
the SOS was on the Dash when I started it to pull out of the drive
any help is much appreciated,
i simply matched the colors back together and added a pigtail for the system to go back in later as a reference
i simply matched the colors back together and soldered the USB module is removed
