I am getting a bit frustrated with the whole MP3 CD thing.

I have an 06 E60 April Build with aux input etc and so my single slot cd player should handle Mp3 right?

Using Itunes with preferences set to mp3 data cd and burning at the slowest speed on a Cd-R I just get the message "medium can not be read"

any ideas, is anyone else using itunes succesfully to burn Mp3 cd's?

Help appreciated.

Your car is MP3 ready and it just needs to be enabled by the dealer by the progman software thingy. You paid for it already so you DO NOT need to pay for any updates required for this service.

Why would they deliver it to me in May with this not enabled?

Dealers are always sloppy at things like this. They somtimes know far less than a lot of us in this forum and when we print something and show it to them they say "ITS FAKE" lol.... I am sure you can sort yours out with no hassle. By the way where are you located? Easier for ppl in your area to give proper directions.

Not so fast... The car will be MP3 ready ONLY if it has a professional radio. Professional radio is an (expensive) option in some countries (most of the european ones have business radio AFAIK), and default from factory in other countries from some months ago (eg. USA). Professional radio is also installed IF the car has a business OR professional radio installed.

So if your car only has business radio, then no MP3...

Correct Iceman? (Your favourite question I guess... )

BTW if you andymac add your location in the profile, help will be better addressed, many things change from one region to other in the car.

Updated my location, hope that helps.

As far as I am aware there is no professional radio option on UK E60's just standard / Hi-fi / Logic 7. I have the Hi-Fi.

My owners manual does not show that MP3 playback is an option so as far as I can see all UK E60's after March 06 build should be OK.

I have a business Sat Nav UK car and it is MP3 enabled in the dash. The radio itself is the basic one as i do not believe that it is changed if you have the Sat Nav option (correct me if i am wrong). I have burnt CDs and DVDs which both woth in the dash.

I use iTunes and select the data CD option and have generally been fine; HOWEVER i do somtimes have the 'Track cannot be read' error come up so i would hazard a guess that your car does not like that brand of CD? Do try another brand and give a CD-R a go rather than a CD-RW as they are less reliable IMHO - Also try a data DVD if you are able...

Thanks Darron. Thats interesting I thought you would use the MP setting not Data CD. I do not have Nav so I would just be using a CD-R in the CD slot.
