So just an FYI I went in to purchase the car on Sunday morning, and they had sold it on Saturday night :-(

The search goes on...

I disagree as there are no free upgrades. If you want anything else thrown in with the deal you are going to end up paying for it. Just make sure you get all manuals, 2 keys and brand new floor mats.
And make sure the tires don't have any threads showing. That was an extra $1k that I had to spend a week after getting mine.

CPO cars are supposed to have 50% or more tread left. The outer edges of my front tires on my car were worn were more than 50%, but they told my wife and I that where they measured the tread depth it was 50% or better. I kind of just shrugged it off, but after a couple of days it really bothered me so I drove the car to the dealership and talked to the used car manager. He told me that that if it would make me feel better when I needed front tires call him and he'd get me a pair of front tires - no charge. About 5 months later my wife parked her car in the driveway with her wheels turned and I noticed that the inside edges had worn down to the cords. I took my car in to the dealer to have some warranty items taken care of and I needed an alignment, and told the service adviser what the used car manager told me. He called the used car manager and of course, the he couldn't recall any our conversation about my front tires, but he could set me up with a pair of tires at his cost. Here's the kicker - a front alignment, 2 Bridgestone Potenza 050 245-40-18 runflat tires installed.......are you ready?........$1894.00!

I asked him if I had "I'm an idiot" tattood to my forehead. I told him he could take his tires and stick them where the sun doesn't shine. I got a pair of tires and an alignment for under $900 some place else.

Another reason not to do any business with BMW of Monrovia in California!

$900 for 2 front tires. $1800? Good lord. My two rear non RFT Hankooks for my 550i Sport were $184 each. $400 per tire is PS2 territory. $450 to $900 per tire is unbelievable (highway robbery).

I would have changed to Vredestein Sessantas, but my rears are still at 80%. I didn't want to mix runflats and non-runflats. I was surprised at the cost of those tires (OEM) since the Bridgestone runflats for my Vette were $380 and those are 325-30-19s.

If I had to spent that kind of $$$, I'd ditch all the run flats and go with non-RFTs. A set of Hankooks would cost you less than 2 RFTs at those prices.

So back on track...

What are standard title fees? Does that include the registration? I'm aware of the sales tax, but how much in fees can I expect beyond the registration? I want to be armed tomorrow when I go back and look at another car. I don't want to get suckered out of anything unnecessary beyond tax and title/registration. Anyone have any example fees dealers try to add that I should watch out for?

Also how can you tell if the tires and brakes have more than 50% left? Is that documented in the CPO checklist?
