Hi All
Just to introduce myself and say hello!
I have just bought en e60 530d, I really wanted the 535d but couldnt find a decent one for my budget.
My car has done approx 50k and I have just visited B&W in hounslow to get it remapped - AWESOME
It almost goes as fast as my Supra TT did!
One question I did have was the turbo noise/whistle - even before the remap it was apparant with the window down, the noise is not excessive and the turbo whistle is no louder than other TDI's i've driven (including transit vans where the noise is really loud!)
Jason said it does sound louder than normal but the car pulls fine with no loss of power etc.. the car also showed an OBD error on the MAF sensor - just wondering if this could be linked? My initial theory is that it could be a vacuum leak - there is a rubber elbow type pipe into the MAF sensor, anyone had a similar problem? How should this be checked?
Of course it could be nothing at all and as I said the car pulls like a train with no power loss so I may just be being paronoid, i'm just a tad worried since I havent got another 530d to compare it to
Any 530d owners hear a turbo whistle on full throttle? And how loud is it? Since there is no loss of power at all could this be a minor leak somewhere or is the turbo whistle completley normal on full throttle?

the 535 has a turbo...and if you have a 530.......unless you have added a turbo after production, is just a straight 6...............regardless of whether it is diesel. i could be wrong though

yup, if its any help i can hear mine with the window up 
,that might be my heavy right foot though , the whistle actually starts at 2000rpm regardless of throttle pressure, this is where the full
torque comes in.
