I find my seat a bit too hot on the 3 setting, so I usually set it to 1 after the seat has warmed up which is quite quick.
Maybe we should have more detailed poll to show what type of seats we have i.e. standard, sport, comfort. As Dr.Z mentioned each seat would have a different design. Just a thought.
Anyone know in more detail about what the recall work involves? Changing the heat elements? Extra Padding? Part of seats? Whole seat? etc. Sorry if this question has been asked before.

Std seats and one light is ok for continuous use when it's cold. Normally I don't use heating after, let's say, 10 min after start of the car.

I always have my seat on 3, even in the summer. It is wonderful for my bad back. I haven't ever had any problems with it yet. (Knock on wood).
The heated steering wheel I have to switch off after it warms up because it gets brutally hot. I wouldn't be surprised if the steering wheel started bursting into flames too.

I voted yes, but for a different reason than others. My driver seat bottom makes NO heat (and yes, I've adjusted the settings in the iDrive, which have had no impact on the bottom).

Every burn-thru I have seen (4 so far) occurs on the drivers side bolster, a few inches from bottom. I dont see a heating element at that location. Maybe its a wiring issue (poor insulation with melting etc).

yes I have already hole burnt in my seat, pants, and a--. Now my seat bottom heating for both driver and passenger are not working at all. Seat backs work fine. Adjusting dist to the bottoms does nothing.
