heated seats burning through leather!?!

My Ride: 2006 525XI, Jet black on Dakota beige. Premium and winter packages. I consider myself a purist and intend to keep my car absolutely stock and shiny. 2008 328I Convertible, Sapphire black on beige interior. Premium package, NAV, iPod adapter. Retired: 2002 325I, Titanium silver on black leather. Premium package. Absolutely stock and proud of it.

I called the dealer today and they referred me to BMW of NA. They said that if I take the car to the dealer for a diagnosis, that they will "more than likely" pay for the repair. Some 5 and 6 series models were recalled for this issue, not the 04 545i.

I'll let you know how it turns out...

Just to let you know, I'm having the back of my drivers seat replaced under warranty in a couple of weeks. My car is a 03/2004 with standard leather seats, and it has burnt through the leather low on the left lumbar support. This is Norway.
So, I think you should contact you loacal SA and have it replaced for free.

You might want to take it a little easy on the heated seats: Too much heat could make you ------ impotent!!!!!!!!!!!!

There was a recall a while back (for 2004 cars built between certain dates) about this -- it's possible that your car was never fixed under the recall so I think you should check with the dealer and/or BMW.

My '04 did get a recall and was fixed.
