My Ride: Soon to be 2006 530xi Silver on gray. Premium, Premium Sound, Sports(lite), Cold Weather pkgs, Navi
Does anybody know if the headrests are interchangeable between the 2006 530xi and a LCI 535xi?
I had the latter as a loaner today while they fixed the suspension on my '06 and the headrest is so much better on the LCI

I had the same idea and asked BMW UK for their views - here's their reply:
We can advise that due to the complicated nature and the reaction speed necessary of the active headrests, that it is not possible to simply swap them over with your originals. The active headrests require their own wiring loom and Electronic Control Unit (ECU) in order to communicate and react alongside the vehicles other safety systems, we cannot advise having these fitted to an earlier car as they would not have been tested for that particular vehicle and would adversely affect the warranty of your vehicle.
The LCI model has active headrests which were only standard on the comfort seats on pre-LCI cars.
My car is also an 06 model but UK spec.
