Guys, I am trying to clean my headlights. I have tried many different ways to clean it from the outside but although it looks better than before, it still looks kind of dirty. I am trying to open the headlights to clean it from the inside, is this recommended? I heard from some one that after I open it and close it back, water might leak in. Is this true? Can anyone show me how to open the headlights and how to close it back?? Thanks in advance!!

Have you tried the 3M kit for headlight cleaning? It comes with a few pieces of sandpaper and some rubbing compound, and all it requires is a drill. My headlights were really bad, and i used the 3M, my headlights look close to new now.

If you're going to open the headlight up to clean it. I recommend you do the Orion V2 mod. Since you've got it open.

Yes!! this is actually where I got the idea of opening the headlights. I might try the Orion V2 mod on my way but still, either I am not seeing it or he does not describe how he removes the plastic cover. I should PM the guy.

Oscillating tool works the best.

If you open your lights, do it for the Orion, but not for cleaning the lens. The clouding on your lights is surely on the outside and all of the off the shelf kits out there suck.

What you need is to wetland with fine grit sandpaper, starting rough and getting more fine as you progress like 400-600-800 (if memory serves) and up. Then move on to a good plastic or metal polish. I have used Mothers chrome polish with great results. I have tried doing this by hand and with orbital polishers and the best results come from doing it by hand. Expect to spend at least 2 hours on each light depending on how bad the fading and chipping is. My first E60 a few years ago was in really rough shape when I bought it. The headlights were basically a translucent yellow and using this technique I managed to get them very clear, not perfect- but really good.
