Headlight Wiring Outer Jacket Deteriorating
Unfortunately, interior and exterior lighting is considered wear and tear and is excluded from coverage. Now I'll try BMWNA I guess.
Very interesting!
No one wants anything to do with this....
My first response from BMWNA was a blow off, let me correct that, both of BMWNA's responses were just blowing me off!
My route....BMWNA - BBB - BMWNA...
Good luck with you and yours...

My Ride: 06 bmw m5, eisenmann race quads, hartge lips.
My cousin had an 04 e60 who faced the same problem. Didn't react to the codes he got on his idrive regarding the high beam failure and as thought was nothing too serious; maybe just the bulb went out. However, ended up torching his LCM somehow in about 3 weeks from when the errors popped out. BMW claims as this being a mere ' ageing ' of the wires...

You know if every car's wires aged to bare copper in 10 years, every car owner around the world would be up in arms!
Have you ever heard of an "Aging" of wires with any other vehicle maker on the planet!?
There are cars being driven today that are over 20 years old with no wiring "Aging" problems!
Take my 20 year old Chevy S10 which is now my main vehicle while I am repairing my wire harness!
My BMW Has been parked for over a month during this whole ordeal...though my headlight should be completed this week.
Then I'll find out if I was successful or I will have to buy a new headlight after all.
Good luck to us all.

I think common sense says it has nothing to do with OLD wiring but rather poor quality from Hella . In my opinion there was inferior wiring insulation used along with high internal headlight temps causing damage to the wire insulation. BMWNA told me on the phone that this was known and the repair for it was to turn down the intensity of the lights through the car programming. My guess is to get it all past the warranty...
