Default Headlight upgrade to Facelift-type

Thought this should be Plug and Play, as long as the original ones, as well as the new ones were both xenon-type.
But the plugs/connectors are different. The original ones have two plugs with round connectors, but the new ones have one plug, with flat connectors.

Have found several instructions for converting headlamps AND rearlamps to facelift-version, and most of them are from Halogentype, which also include changing the lightmodule, as well as reprogramming the whole damend system.

Do I have to go through all this, as I already have the xenonlights, and dont want to change the rear lights?
Can't find any adapters from the old connectors to the new ones.
Anybody having a tip, that can save me from start cutting wires and do it the "MacGyver-way"?
All help would be highly appreciated.

Haha, you clearly didn't do homework prior. Not sure why you thought it would be plug and play, but if don't follow the OEM retro guide and do the tails together, you definitely will need even more Macgyver-ing since it will have to be custom coded. Even then, not all things may work correctly without some real time putting into trial and error.

And technically, it is possible to make a conversion harness, but cost-wise, it makes no damn sense.

Reason for thinking this was "plug and play" was that I have the same functions in my "old" headlights. Xenon and heightadjustment are already there.

So I thought it actually was limited to an improvement of design.

Am I wrong when I assume that the reprogramming/rewiring/modulechange are regarded to the halogen/xenon change and LED rear lights?

yes. This would have been very obvious after a quick search.
I did my homework when I did my conversion went to all the possibilities and then bought the right headlamps and parts and the whole conversion went flawless, without one hickup.

Before anyone can even try to help you.
You need to give more details to your car/lights.
On the E60/61 there are no more then 6 different headlights possible.

Build date of your car Month/year. The LM2 lightmodule is build in from sept 2006.
Dynamic or not. This both for the old lights and the new ones.

OK, I might not spend time enough to search the net, before I bought the headlights. And you may do your homework better, as well.
Anyway, according to TIS, my cars original headlights have this specs.
Xenon headlights up to 03/2007
Low beam: Xenon DS-S
High beam: H7 12V 55W
Side lights: Bulb holder with 12V 10W bulb
Turn signal: 12V 21W
Side marker lamp: LED
On the housing it says: 158 724 00/01 and PB7 ASA GF20
2 pcs. of el. modules in the bottom of each headlight
Headlights and car manufactured in 2004

New headlights:
No.1: 7 177 739-06 from 2007
No.2: 7 177 740-08 from 2008

1 pcs. of el. module in the bottom of each headlight.

No dynamic, and all have xenon in low beam (old and new)

If the modifications turns out to be days of work/coding etc. I will stick to my original ones, -that works well, and sell the new ones. No big deal.

If its just a matter of a bit rewiring and change of plugs, I can do that.
But I prefer not to start cutting wires and mess up the old ones, if the new ones won't work.
Thats why I ask if anybody has done this mod on similar types of headlights before, and are willing to share their experience with me.

Done some reasearch! Looks like I have the Xenon/ALC type originally, and the new ones looks like the ones with high/low beam on the outer and have a black lens with AE on the inner,.......
