Has anyone noticed the headlight switch can be pushed in (recessed) and pulled back out?

It's a safety feature to protect your knees on impact.

I have not seen it being described anywhere in the owner's manual before, but I have accidentally hit it more than 3 times causing the switch to be pushed in - but no damage done when all you need to do is gently pull it back out thereafter

Mine is always in. Its just as easy to use it in that position. Infact thats how it was delivered to me so I never knew I could pull it out until I read this forum.

Maybe you need to push it a certain way or a certain amount of times to determine the software version...

I do remember some posts here where someone broke the switch after playing with it too much so my advice would be to not push it in intentionally.

Here's the old thread:

I can push it in and pull it out as often as I want on any E60 without braking it. You just need to be carefull.

It is in fact a safety feature. In case of an accident this switch can brake your kneecap. That's why you can push it in... in case of an accident with your knee...

Mine is allways in and on auto, and I can still move it, even when it's pushed in.
