It is a pain to do! When I did my angel eyes, I took out the headlight assembly to do the work. Due to the funky shape of the lights it isn't as easy as it was on my e39. On the e39 you simply loosened up a few bolts and pulled the cluster out. With the e60, you loosen the bolts but then have to wiggle and work the light out!

It's actually pretty easy and the link for the AE install will be clear for you.

Note that of 2 fasteners at the bottom of the lamp housing - those get loosened NOT removed!! If you unscrew them too far they might drop into the bowels of the front of the car.

What do you need to pull the headlamp assemblies for? Angel eyes? It can be done without removing anything...not even the radiator guard. Its a PITA, but doable. Took about 30 min for both, maybe a little more.

Changing the HID bulbs.

Thanks guys! I replaced my low beam and saved 250 bucks worth of labor from the dealer!
