Picked up my new 06 525 today. Question - How do you get the "Inboard Headlights" to come on? Got the outboard, running, brights to work but cannot figure out the inboard. I know it something silly and easy but....How?

If you have bi-xenons, the inboard lights are simply the flash to pass lights (and DRLs, if you have them activated.) The low and high beams are actually in the outboard beam. (The high beams are really the same as the low beams, they just have a shutter that moves in and out which reduces the "spray" of the light.)

That seems correct. Going now to see for sure. Seems odd to me that the inboards are just flash to pass, but that seems to be what is going on. Oddly enough I could not find a description/operation in the owners manual.

Does region make any difference?
The inboard (I take it as the inner light) is also the high beam (not flashing but normal high with the left control stalk pushed away from you and the xenon behaves as Rudy describes). Otherwise normally only the xenon is on with main light switched on.

Hello SixGun95,

I'm thinking of getting an 06 525i also. How is the performance like with the new 06 3.0l engine compared to the 05 525i and 05 530i?

thanks

PM sent, did you get it. All I can say is that I could not be more pleased. 1st BMW
so all I have to compare my 06 525 to is the 05 525 I test drove. The 06 seems to have more TQ and accelerates effortlessly. BTW, it did come with the 3D Nav view, as a pilot who uses GPS everyday, I hate it! I'll stick to the overhead view.

So you have xexons and the inboard lights come on too for the high beams? This would never fly in the US - too many watts! They won't even let you run the fog lights at the same time as the high beams.

That's correct. I can turn on the fog lights at the same time.
But flashes with normal headlight activates only the high beam and not the bixenon.
