I have never seen the headlamp washers working nor have I ever seen any discussion on the option, apart from people wondering whether they have them or not as all E60 bumpers have the cut outs.

So anyone have a pic of them working and an opinion on whether they are any good or not?

Yuo can clearly see them working when you are driving along and it looks like your headlights are flashing on and off and spray flying in the air. They do not usually operate when the lights are not on or it's every third time when the lights are off since you are not using them.

i noticed them when i used my windshield washers for the first time, you can see the spray come off the hood.

along the same lines and not to hijack, i haven't found a way to use the windshield and headlamp separately. is there a way?

No they only work in unison with the windscreen washers when the headlights are switched on. I mean has anyone ever seen them working standing in front of the car? I.e the flaps opening and squirting the water up onto the lights.

The headlights get a wash the first time you wash your windscreen after start up... After that there is a interval of 1 out of 3, which means the headlights only get a wash every third time you wash your windscreen ;-)

From all that's been said to this point, I hope I don't have them. How would I know? What opens from where? The last thing I want is overspray on my hood. I have the premium and sport packages. Do they come with either of these? Would they be listed on my original sticker? Pictures would help me.
