"head unit not coded correctly" Fix???
#1
Hi guys,
Need some advice. I have a 2006 525i E60.
I just took my car into a shop because my audio went out. Turns out they had to change out the whole CD unit. Now everything works great, but when I turn on the car, a message comes on that says, "Head unit not coded correctly"...
Does anyone know how to fix this?? I'd rather NOT have to take it to the dealer to have them code it... They SUCK...
I also still have the old broken head unit. Does anyone know how much I could sell it for?

I had the same exact message on my screen after replacing the cd player (MASK unit). The car needs to be coded. I got the car coded but now I have no sounds from the underseat subwoofers so I'm trying to sort that out. Probably a coding issue. Take it to an Indy shop who will do the coding for u for much cheaper

Thanks for the replies.
Yes, I do need to code it.. As it is now, everything works fine... Will it make a difference if I get it coded? I would hate to go through that and then have something go wrong...
Thanks!

You're not changing anything, just re-marrying parts bro. Just have the guy who initially did it process the car and the speakers should work fine. I know someone who may be able to do it remotely for you if you have the correct cable. For your car you would use this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-USB-OBD-...ht_2659wt_1185
