My 2008 550I headlight washer don't pop up. I'm following the right procedure with the park lamp on and pulling the washer lever, but nothing happens. Is it possible that my car does not have headlight washer functionality even though it has the bumper cut outs? Are is there a problem going on with the headlight washer?

All bumpers have the cut out but the washer car cover is larger than the hole while non washer cars have a flush cover.

The headlamp washer will activate under the following conditions:

-The LOW BEAMS or HID headlamps have to be on
-Operation will only occur ONCE per ignition cycle

The covers are connected to a spring loaded flap - gently pry the flap open from the top and you should be able to see the washer underneath.

I have headlamp washers and the covers sit flush with my bumper.

Wrong pukka, the headlight washers work once every 8 or 10 washes of the windscreen with the light switch in auto or low beam.

The flap is the same regardless of whether you have headlight washers or not, it has a spring fitted if you have them.

They were fitted if you have Xenon headlights or as an option if you have halogen headlights.

yep. I think you even have to be moving too but not sure. never squrted my windshield 10 times while not moving. The flap is easy to lift out if you have washers. Just slide in a plastic card from your wallet and lift it out.

If I'm wrong, then the BMW dealership where my 5er gets serviced is wrong. I have the service document to back up what I stated and would gladly post it if anyone asks.

Furthermore, leaving the headlamp switch in Auto by itself will not activate the headlamp washers unless the low beams or HIDs are actually ON.

For MY 2008, headlamp washers were installed ONLY as a part of the Cold Weather package. So if the OP doesn't have a heated steering wheel, then he doesn't have the headlamp washers either.

I have heated seats as part of the cold weather package, but no heated steering wheel. I used by ID card to slightly pry open the cut out, but I did not see any washer jet. I thought maybe the washer jet was a bit further down then my eyes could see, but I did not want pry anymore as there was a good amount of resistants on the cut out. I'm quiet puzzled at the moment

You dont have them then. You need to have the heated steering wheel and when you open the cover easily you will see the nozzle right away.
