HD Radio and FM "All Stations" mode

Could someone with HD Radio help with this question . . .
During my recent ED, I had HD Radio activated (needlessly) and was very disappointed that I did not have the option for FM "All Stations". In the US, I travel a bit between cities and always leave FM in the All Stations mode so that it will automatically pick up new stations as I drive from area to area.
Am I assuming correctly that with HD Radio activated, I lose the All Stations option?? If so, any idea why?
