It is certainly a personal choice. There are surely some local market stations that are excellent, but it really depends on the market and the listener. For those who have a local station(s) that they like, it is likley a good option. Due some research though as I am not familiar with the standards. Is there a time line where all stations must broadcast in HD? I ask because in a relative back water like New Orleans, I doubt many stations are switching to HD unless forced by the FCC.

Doesn't HD radio also have some sort of data scroll/ticker - similar to RDS, but as I understand it, much better (and more like satellite radio)??

 

For those members living overseas and want to purchase an American Spec. care planning to take it back to the States understand HD radio generally will not work over here as we are on the 10kz channel step vs. the 9 in Europe. The radio is so specific it will not pick up a station if it is not directly on our standard.

 

Thanks Rudy, helpful as always! Now I just need to brush up on my spanish as two of the four are spanish language stations!! Given the other two listed, I'll stick with my Sirius for now.
