I was sitting at a light and I saw and heard it happen in front of my eyes. No impact marks so I'm sure BMW will replace it, but this will be my second one.

I've got one about 1.5cm on the passenger side of the windshield, but you can clearly see a crater about 0.7cm in diameter in the center of the crack indicating it was hit by a small rock.

I hope BMW can replace this under warranty.

Please post back if BMW replaces your windshield because of a rock. I have a small rock chip, but no crack yet. I also have a tiny chip in the paint and some almost undetectible gravel chips in the windshield. I am not overly concerned, but somehow it would be nice if trucks going too fast on roads under construction could be held responsible for the damage they cause.

Funny you should say "truck" because that's exactly what happened. I saw the damn thing coming too! It was that big! My heart rate shot up immediately within the 0.5 seconds it took from the time I spotted it and the time it hit my windshield...a nice loud crack too.

i'm not about your guys states .. but in florida as long as you have Comprehensive Ins on yrou car, your car insurance will replace 1 windshield FREE for you per year. they figure replacing a $300 windshield is cheaper than replacing the whole car due to an accident because you couldn't see properly.

I have glass coverage, but my glass dings are barely noticeable--not warranting replacement unless a star develops which would obscure my view or a crack develops.

Let me restate my original post. I was sitting at a light, nothing hit my windshield. Its another stress crack. They already replaced one windshield under warranty. Is this going to continue to happen?

Aahh, now things are more clear.
This is a strange thing to happen and twice for that matter!

Edited to add:
Did the crack occur in the same general area as the first one? Hmmm...

I just noticed a big "L" shaped crack on my passenger side front windshield. This is a first for me. It looks like a stress crack. Last week, my car was in the BMW service to replace the sun roof motor. I don't know, if the sun roof motor replacement caused the stress crack.
