Thumbs up

When I take my car between 130-150mph, I get this sound of a whistle or wind noise that sounds like its coming through the iDrive screen. I was on M5Board recently and a bunch of members experienced similar problems and said it was due to a faulty mounted windshield from the factory. They were replaced and the sound was gone, but some had to pay for the new windshield.

I went to the dealer and they obviously told me that because they couldn't replicate the sound since they're not allowed to take my car that fast (Hahahahaha!), they have no way of justifying that as a replacement issue.

Has anyone experienced this sound in their E60? If so, did you have the windshield replaced? What did the dealer say?

Ya I have that sound too don't got a M but I hear that sound didn't have my car for too long but compare to my other cars I get that wind sound and it doesnt sound right, a little rock hit my window and my window even chipped made me think the windshield might of been replaced.

Could it be your passengers hyperventilating?

At what speeds does that sound make itself audible? When I'm going 100, you don't hear it. It's only when you start getting up there, do I hear it. I just don't feel I should have to pay out of pocket for a new windshield.

you should go to Dealership and let them drive it so they can hear it (it's only accurs on 150mph right..)

I actually told them I'd be happy to take them out and show a technician (or they could take the car themselves), but they said that wasn't allowed. Not sure why...

I'm thinking I should just take a bat to my windshield and just claim it on insurance.

I have no such noises at those speeds, but I did have my original windshield replaced at 1300 miles. If it isn't noticeable until 130mph+, I would probably let it be rather than risk a leaking/noisy windshield replacement.
