Has anyone ever opened their headlight housings before?

On my old car (Mazda 6) I opened the headlights to paint the inner chrome components. My goal here is to paint the chrome eyelid area where the amber led running lights. I only did it on that car after I found some information on it online first so I knew that it had been done and I was unlikely to damage the headlight housing by doing it as the process involved baking the headlight for a few minutes to soften the sealant on the housing to allow easier opening. I'm wondering if anyone has done something similar with our cars and if so what is the process that was done to open the headlight? Thanks.

Pic of what I am talking about.

I did it on my last car, 02 maxima. I'm not sure I would do it on this car. I probably took the thing apart 3 times total.
First time was to install angel eyes, turns out the ones I bought were too big and wouldnt fit. Then I cleared out the orange turn signal, and the next time I install the umnitza angel eyes on it.

I would like to get rid of the orange reflector but I'm not gonna risk cooking these lights.

So far, I have not seen a DIY for what you are asking for. The closest I've seen is from the E90 forum where one guy wrote a guide on how to bake the E90 headlights to change it to angel eyes. Try looking for that and maybe you can guide you a bit further on how to do this.
