I seriously doubt that anyone looking at those 2 cars would make their purchasing decision based on which gets better gas mileage - it was a joke

For a weekender or day toy, there is no choice...the Ferrari is a clear winner.

Unless.....
- you have kids and want them to enjoy your weekend toy with you
- $$ are an issue for maintenance or depreciation

My solution (although on a slightly different scale).
I bought a 5 series for daily driving
A Porsche 968 for weekends (sorry kids)
The wife sticks to her MDX

Didn't you like the replies you got in this identical thread ... ?

http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=50033

Although I am not doubting your ability to purchase either of these vehicles, I find it odd that you happened to find a photo of both cars sitting right next to each other in what appears to be a car park rather than sales lot ... !

But just to repeat the general thoughts from your other thread on this topic...

Ferrari : fine as a 2nd car to use at weekends if you don't mind the high maintenance costs and lack of ability to take passengers. The 355 is an OLD car with no internal luxury or comfort.

BMW : as a 1st car that can also be used as a weekender for fun, with the need to carry passengers and some comfort and luxury.

At some point in the future I plan to buy a Ferrari and/or Lamborghini - but it will be when I can afford to have one as a 2nd car which I do not use as a daily driver. Very very few people with such a car will have it as their only transport.

You may aswell ask whether you should buy chalk or cheese, how long this piece of string is, whether an apple is better than an orange ... you just cannot compare the two!

As long as you can beat either a 535 or 550, it really doesn't matter.

Buy the E39 on the other side of the Ferrari. That is an E39, right?

If you want to save some mula, buy the M5.
If you don't care about money and are loaded, buy both.
