Yes, when the towing company purchases towing vehicles I do not believe the take into consideration being careful not to damage BMW owners vehicles. I think they look at how cheaply they can buy a towing vehicle.

Excatlly and with they pay towers get here in the states... when they see a nice car parked illegally they're not going to take care of it. They probably try to put extra damage on it because they're jealous... they'll just tow and whatever gets damaged gets damaged... I believe they have a fine print where it says they're not responsible for damages for your car being towed becaused you parked illegally. The states have a lot of inconsiderate people...

In an infrequent "dah" moment, I left my car on a Boston street that did not allow parking every 1st and 4th Wednesday morning of the month due to street cleaning (who would have thought that the 22nd could have been the 4th Wednesday of the month? - look at a calendar!).

Anyway, the car was towed. It is a manual shift. I left it in first gear. The emergency brake was set. The city of Boston uses old fashioned tow trucks meaning the front end was lifted and the rear wheels would have rolled as it was towed.

So my obvious question. Could this have done damage to the transmission or some other aspect of the car?
Did you get it back? Any damage?

Over here in Germany, the government makes the rules for the towing of illegaly parked vehicles.
In my case, the city of Frankfurt am Main.
Towing is only allowed with pick-away towtrucks (the ones with cranes). If it is impossible to do so, we need to tell them why and get a written permission for other towing methods, maybe including opening the car under the eye of the law enforcement officer at the scene (the car needs to be locked afterwards, before leaving the scene). Any damage done to the car is the problem of the towing company. The officer writes down everything related to the car. Visible objects in the car, damages, etc....

That's exactly what I thought.

But it happened to me once... (when I was 18 years old).
