I can't remember where I saw this, maybe in person or on the forum somewhere, but I remember seeing kidney grills with the chrome outside, and the vertical pillars were chrome on the top and faded to black towards the bottom. It was pretty neat.

I dont know but black just looks so cool to me, that's the first mod i did when i bought my car. Chrome is a little to conservative

I like both looks. I'd say it depends on the exterior color of your car and your personal preference.
