Anyone know what that is? It looks like a small speaker grill but is it the air vent?

Is it the chime speaker?

Has anyone found a way to make the bong noise quieter? How about putting some noise absorbing foam under the grill?

Yea, I thought of that, but it would be nicer if it could just be toned down.

I think the dealer has a bulletin out about turning it down. One of the software upgrades increasedd the volumne up too much. so just take it back they should adjust it for you.

my 2005 645's chime is really loud and quite displeasing. my 2007 530's chime is about half the volume and not as annoying. i think enough people complained about the noise that BMW turned the volume down on later models.

lol...... . I am so happy we have the "bling" sound instead of a monotone ring like my X5 and Mazda3.
