There is a strong chance I'll be having pro nav retrofitted.

The OEM GPS antenna seems alot of work to get into the shark fin. I'm sure I read someone used a E39 or aftermarket GPS antenna and placed into the dash speaker compartment.

Is that possible and is anyone able to recommend the best GPS antenna

Thanks
Jas

If you want to use an aftermarket just get one for like $15 off ebay. Take out instrument cluster and the magnet will sit nicely on the steel brace bar. Works perfect in every install i've done. Don't put near speaker due to interference...some magnetic field stuff. Just put behind the instrument cluster on the metal bar.....I've done this 6 times so far and beautiful response. Otherwise you could get latency.

That's what you need http://cgi.ebay.com/GPS-ANTENNA-FAKRA-MFD2-RNS2-RNS-E-MFD-2-VW-AUDI-SAT-NAV-/320621046949?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4aa680eca5#ht_739wt_1139
Used many times. Good luck!

Thanks alot.

I have no speaker in the speaker compartment of the dash but will look at your suggestion since you've already done it.

There may be people on here who may give you the aftermarket antenna, most people on ebay include this in their CCC kits and many don't use it,.

I am hopefully going to get one from Livefour2day

I am actually (hopefully) going to get Blood's CCC. just need to source the monitor and HIGH controller.

The HIGH controller is possibly an issue as I cannot confirm which part number it is.

It`s a pain JAS, as a last resort, maybe try your local dealer to get the correct part no.

I have another option. I have a spare CIC idrive controller for sale and I know that works on the CCC as well and that is definitely a High version. Only thing, you have to do a little hack to your console to get it in but that looks way cooler than the old controller.

Or maybe blood wants that and he sells you his controller.
