Rotated the wheels front to rear on mine and the wifes cars this weekend.

Both my 5er and the wife's Honda Civic have skinny spare wheels.

As I was adjusting the pressures of the wheels, I decided to check the pressures on the spares.

Both should have been 60 psi, both were around 35psi. !! :'(

Would have been next to useless in the event of a flat.

If you haven't checked yours lately, do so, I can't believe they have lost 25psi each in less than 20 months, so were probably never inflated correctly. Not something that rates high on the checklist normally, but will do so now.

I better check mine... I've never checked it since the dealer put it in about a year ago!

yes, this is a good reminder. The cheap temporary spare is just like any other tire/spare and needs to be checked regularly for air. Had a nail a while back and had to put on the donught, which turned ou to be a bit low. Forutnately the service station is only two blocks away so I was able to limp over and add air.

Any reason why you didn't use BMW Roadside Assistance?

Reason is simple: Time is more important ...

Yes, only took 15 minutes to change and limp to gas station. Didn't have the patience to what an hour plus for Roadside Assistance. Of course if the spare was so low that the car was undrivable, then yes I would have called Roadside Assistance.
