Blessed with good luck yesterday after my E60 aquaplaned across all 3 motorway lanes, onto a hard sholder, up and embankment and hit a tree headon @ 50-60mph. Got out with just whiplash and a grazed knee (where brake pedal kicked back on hitting tree) and very shaken.

Be glad youre driving such a safe car and hope you never need all its safety features.

+20 on glad you are ok. But I see what the problem is......you where driving on the wrong side of the road!

Sorry, couldn't resist an attempt at humor.

Nasty business, glad you are not too hurt. The car looks bad but I guess the really heavy damage is at the front, I hate to see any 5 smashed up but especially a 535d.

I hope they write it off so you can drive another 'clean' E60.

LOL I don't get it the safety part....

I rolled a 77 datsun station wagon due to a rear wheel blowout.. ROLLED the car at least 5 times into a ditch, no seat belt on, windows rolled down, no air bags, just a peice of steel and me and I walked out of it with a few scratches..

I've totaled every car I've owned between the mid 80s to mid 90s and came out of the accident scratch free from a 1980's nissan, 1989 Ford Mustang, 1992 Mazda MX3.
Considering these are older cars with probably lesser safety features crumple zone, air bags, etc.
that has nothing to do with safety my friend. that is luck
