I didn't think it would be that much based on the earlier pics.

Same here but when you think BMW charges £120 p/h for labour, one head light is £600, an airbag is another £500 theres £1100 to start with.

I wish you the best of luck. Please forgive me if I am not surprised; the stealership just quoted me a price of $249.00 for a single headlight bulb! And that does not include installation!

Sorry to see that happen to you. Was talking to body shop guy by me and he said high cost might be because the E60 has an aluminum front end and you need special tools and workspace to work on the aluminum in order to properly straighten and repair. He's not a BMW bodywork guy so not sure how true his take on it is. I however remember that car and driver had a similar accident on a Audi S8 with an aluminum front end and it cost them a lot to get the front end work done.

Dealerships quote ridiculous prices for parts for a reason - they don't want you to do the work yourself. A parts clerk told me this when I laughed at a $100 price for a oil filter socket. Indy shop owners and certified mechanics that buy parts through the dealer get much better prices. They also use the same parts websites that are floating around on this forum.

If the insurance company is coughing up £600 for the headlight, I'd wanna make sure they get you an LCI one!
Then, you'll only have to replace the other side which you should be able to swap with your one on the cheap
