Insurance enginer says its repairable, just waiting on the authorisation from my insurance, the cars is still worth double that amount.

Well, it doesn't take much damage to start adding up the money. I sure it will go up a little more as they find things that need to be replaced that was missed in the estimate. Good luck with it.

I owned a Chevy Trailblazer that got chewed up for hail damage before I made the first car payment. Cost to repair was over 12,000 Euros and insurance paid it out promptly. Since it was an "act of god" they couldn't raise my premium.

In the UK they'd say it was a fault claim and fleece you for everything, citing the same reasons! That's assuming they would even cover it.

£7000 is pretty cheap actually. It's pocket change for the insurance companies. It's how much a new tranny is.

My $14,000 accident was repaired with no sign of any accident. Both bumpers and the whole left side were either repaired or replaced and all repainted. That was 20 months ago and the car still drives (and looks) like it is brand new. I hope you are as happy with your results as I am. As I've said before on other posts get a top notch shop to do the work.
