OK, got my car back from the dealer today. When they read the error codes it stated "fault BST cable". They inspected the BST cable but couldn't find any problems with the connections or the cable. They cleared the faults and road tested the vehicle.

Since no root cause for the fault was found I'm very skeptical that this problem has been resolved. I questioned them about replacing the airbag control module based on the information from Kyriacos but the dealer states that BMW will not authorize replacing any components under warranty without them being verified as defective.

I have a feeling this isn't the last time I'll be dealing with this problem...
