I get your point. I also can see how some would be offended. I do agree with you in that what I look for in a BMW is the sportiness that you just cant find in another car within the same class especially when you get the sport pkg. Thats why I drive these cars. Always have, always will just so long as I can afford it. I personally would never buy one without the sport pkg. To me, that makes the car. The motor one chooses is all a question of needs and finances. I think we all would step up to the next level E60 if $ wasnt a factor. I guess it all depends on what kind of car you're coming from. To some, a 528 is M5 like if your coming out of a nissan or a honda. To others, it's a dog if you're coming from a 545/550/M5. Everyone's perception is their own reality.

All the best

Dude, I don't know because I've never driven a 545 but I can tell you that there is a world of difference between my 06 and my 08 550. The new one is far superior in every respect.

My 545 is in for service on the faulty airbag sensor that lit up recently. The dealer was nice and gave me a new 528 loaner while my car is in for service. This is the FIRST TIME I have driven another 5-series other than my 545 Sport 6MT. My WOW comment is for "WOW, this does not in any way compare to my 545!"

I am picking up my E60 2004 520iA (yes, only 170 bhp, can you believe that?) on this Saturday. Having red this where you almost degrading my forthcoming car to a Kia, I couldn't care less. It suits my needs and reflects my priorities. And you know what? It's still a BMW

If I wanted to get a loaded 2008 550 I would have to fork out approx. $230.000. Not even an issue...paying that much for a car like this with it's huge depreciation must be concidered insanity. (mind you, the car taxes here are!)

+1 I would have to pay $480k for a 550i , so again I want to get a V8 but its not gonna happen unless I am in USA. And I wouldnt say I am not bothered about more torque and more bhp, but I dont think a 528i can be that bad compared to a 545i...well yeah there is the difference of about 100 horses lol .....but then who is drag racing in a bimmer anyways..

btw new 520i has a 4 cyl 170 bhp engine...... wonder how it drives....

Mine is a 6 cyl unit; why did they change that?
And what size tires do wo wear on your 124 alloys?

On your other remarks I agree...I wouldn't mind the extra cyl and bhp but it is not worth the extra dough...at least not here in norway. IMO.

Is it really necessary to denigrate an entire group of BMW fans who happen not to select the same options as you? Frankly, I find it unnecessary and a tad insulting for you to say that the e60 I chose for my specific need set is "not a BMW" because it doesn't have the sports package. Each is entitled to his opinion, but there certainly are less offensive ways of expressing it.
Well put.

i think they just changed it in 2008 and they didn offer it for a year or two in the 2.2 6Cyl, I am running 245/40/18 fronts and 274/35/18 rear ... soon will be replaced by 172M's.....

So nobody likes the new steptronic electronic gear shifter, eh..?

Well I guess it's just matter of taste also.. I really like how it feels, and also think it's star-trek look is cool..

And my girlfriend wants to pull it out and take it home.. Wonder what she's gonna do with it.. she does seem to stroke it a lot while I'm driving..
