Glad you didn't get hurt....not physically that is.
I got into an accident about a year ago (side swiped at high speed by a truck in the freeway) and I immediately took the car to the BMW body shop in Long Beach near my work. My insurance let's me go to any body shop of my choice, but if I go out of their preferred network then the insurance cannot guarantee the body shop's work, in other words they are not liable for any warranty. But I have to tell you that they did a great job on my car, no clue or signs that it ever got hit.
Definitely settle for only original BMW parts. Good luck.

Also E60 has very much parts from aluminium in front, so if any these parts is pressed these also must replace (IT`S WRONG TO TRY TO REPAIR THEM)
Regarding the insurance play, definitely go through the other party's insurance if at all possible. Once you get your insurance company involved, rates seem to "magically" go up shortly thereafter.
Good luck!

Your insurance company should represent you in this matter even if the other parties insurance pays. I know that if you are in California you have the right to have your repair work done at the shop of your choosing. Regardless of which insurance company is paying.
I agree that your dealer is the place to start for an estimate or a referral to a certified shop.
Good luck and keep us posted.

im getting my mtech kit in a couple days, so my accident timing sucks. i really hate to have it stuck at the shop getting it repaired to factory, when im just going to take it all off for the mtech anyways. id rather get the cash myself.
