I took my 545i in for service this week. Needed oil, but also complained about the very common transmission slam issue. They upgraded the car to 17.01 or higher, and the steptronic shifting is much smoother, instantaneous, and never misses. This was a noticeable improvement. has anyone experienced the same.
Edit: I guess I made a mistake. It must have been upgraded to 18.00. Based on the latest from KSCARROL, this is the version which provideds the tranny fix. BMW actually got a special update for the transmission slam issue. For once, the service department at my dealer knew what I was talking about.

Side LEDs still work, Bluetooth does not work, Perspective NAV is nice contrary to what I thought, and best of all I can move the map around the present location to look at nearby streets, a feature not present before. Prevoiously if you wanted to follow the map ahead of where your present position was you had to zoom out and lose all sense of streeets around you. (This featue is standard on all other Nav systems BMW should have had it before they launched their primitve version)
But WOW the transmission is dead smooth, It almost feels like a MERCEDES or Audi but with great handling.
Active steering feels different
Stopping is improved, Before I had a jerky stop every time. Even when lifting of the brake pedal at the end. It was either a Jerk at stop or no stopping. Now The Jerkiness has been smoothened.
I have increased my daily commute fuel economy from 14.5 to 15.
Don't know what else, I have had it only for a day after software update.

Not sure why your bluetooth does not work. Mine still works great. I have never had any issues other than the Blackberry 7100T doesnt download any of the contact info. I have not noticed anything else, but I have only had it back for about 24 hours, but the tranny fix made it all worthwhile.

the transmission problem is solved by sw update a few versions back. probably from 15.x and on. i have 16.2 and love it. used to use ds mode 95% of the time but now is the other way around .

My car is Mar 2005 production. I already had 16.2, and notice huge improvements with this upgrade.
