I am looking at CPO 335's and 535's. I was initially leaning towards the 3-series since I thought I could get a more loaded car for the money, but I think the new 5-series model has helped CPO 535 pricing a bit. I also think the 5-series rear headroom will be nice since I drive suppliers/clients around frequently.

Anyways, I found a 535i and wanted feedback on whether or not this is a good deal or if I should try to negotiate something better.

CPO 2008 535i RWD
41k miles
Deep Sea Blue Metallic
Natural Brown Interior
6spd Steptronic
Premium pkg
Sport pkg
Cold Weather pkg
Comfort Access
Fold down rear seats
iPOD

$30,777 asking (was $37,991 a couple months ago)

sounds like a good deal to me...iPod is a really nice option to have...gives you a USB port.

If you transport people around - 5 series is the only way to go. The 3 series is nice but the rear of it is kind of tight.

+1 Though the current 3 is a bit larger, the rear seating is better for children, small adults or grown-ups who like to be up close and personal

Sounds like a good deal to me, especially since BMW finally has a fix for the fuel pump issue. Go 535i only, don't even think about the 3. If I had known that the 535i was going to come out in 2008, I would have never got the 335i in 2007. The 5 is soooooooooooooo much nicer, roomier, and seems just as fast to me as my 3 ever did.

I don't know about that...You ask the dealer and that is what they will tell you but there are still people experiencing this issue...On the fence about a 535 myself, BMW warrantying ONLY the HPFP for 120K or 100k (cannot recall) provides me no peace of mind since many people have had issues with both fuel pumps, the injectors etc. after multiple service appointments.

I think it is a good deal. As a potential new 535 owner myself, make sure you understand the HPFP issues, what has been done to date by BMW (to address the issue, not fix it) and to the car you are buying (insist on a set of detailed service records and post the results here for some input on severity of past issues), and be comfortable knowing that you may have to spend some time without that car due to service needs regarding the fuel system..

This is just my opinion..I am sure others will disagree...

Thanks for the responses. I think this is a pretty good deal but now I found another option:

2007 535i (Not CPO, but at BMW dealer)
43k mi
* COLD WEATHER PKG -inc: heated front seats, headlight cleaning system, heated steering wheel (ZCW)
* 6-SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION W/OD (205)
* COMFORT ACCESS SYSTEM (322)
* HEATED REAR SEATS (REQ: ZCW Cold Weather Pkg & LC_ Dakota Leather Seat Trim) (496)
* NAVIGATION SYSTEM -inc: controller w/force feedback, voice command system, additional on-board computer functions, auto ventilation, real time traffic info (609)
* SIRIUS SATELLITE RADIO (655)

Asking $28,794

The three downsides I see are: non-CPO, no iPOD, and no sport package.

How big of a deal is the sport package? Is it worth giving up these things to get a 550 instead of 535?

Before considering the CPO warranty, you might want to do a search on member pjinca's experience with what is NOT covered.

My SA even recommended I don't buy a CPO warranty.....
