Steve H got me thinking about this question so I just thought I would pose it to see what everyone else does here....

The funny part is I was actually scared to run my car through a car wash (the kind where you pop it into neutral and then the machine pushes you through several washing cycles) because I had read the owners manual:

Page 61 - Before driving into a car wash
"The vehicle can roll if you proceed according to the following steps"
1. With comfort access (which I have): insert the remote control into the ignition lock
2. Depress brake pedal
3. Engage Transmission position N
4. Switch off engine (really turn your car off to go through a car wash??)

So after testing my car out running and in Neutral to make sure it rolled I drove it into the car wash with trepidation and it made it through fine with no issues. Now the last two times I have been through the "!" lights up and chimes telling me I am in Neutral (strange this didn't happen the first 5-6 times through)

So how do you all run your car through the wash? Not trying to post something dumb, I just really had me thinking if there really was a "right" way to do this...

I've never shut it off in that type of car wash, sometimes I shut it off in the one where you park inside, but that is just more to save a little gas.

I leave mine on.. I tested it when first bought it by driving and shifting into neutral and it rolled just fine :-)

But I think once I get wheels I will probably start waging it the old fashioned way cause those edges and spinning brushes scare me with wheels..

But back on topic.. I'm sure your good leaving the engine on.. That's what neutral is for.. To roll.
