I am in the same position on the end of the lease coming up, and trying to make a decision on what to do. The first deliveries on the F10 won't be until April from what I hear. There have been a lot of comments on not buying the F10 because of the first year issues, but I discount that. Look through these topics and see how many real problems the E60 had when it first came out. BMW has too much at stake to let something go out he doors that is not damn near perfect. My dilemma is deciding between the XF Supercharged, or waiting for the new F10.

I drove the XFR just to see how fast it was and, boy, it was quick. I was looking at the top of the line non-supercharged model and it is a very nice car. Just happened to like the MB better - and they gave me a better deal for a loaded car. By the way, the Jaguar dealer told me that they are coming out with a lower horsepower supercharged model with a lower price point. It might be available now. I'm sure the F10 will be an awesome car - BMW has a lot riding on it given the advances by Jag, MB and Audi. It is a very competitive market for this class of cars.

Good luck with your decision.

I've got a 550i and a CLS 550 (based on the E frame). I never drive the CLS.

I honestly don't think the latest generation E-Class gives up much to the 550 in the handling department when equipped, as yours is, with the AMG/Sport pack. The old stereotypes about MB handling should have been put to bed a while back. They're turning out some very decent product right now and the new E-Class seems to be no exception. Enjoy the E550 - it is a fine car.
Thanks! Being totally objective (or as objective as I can be) based on my driving both, where the 550i sport has an advantage over the E550 sport is in cornering. It's not that the MB is bad in any way it's just that this is really a strong point in the sport BMW. I won't be going to a poor handling car - just one that doesn't handle quite as well as my current car (which is probably the industry leader). One thing I noticed is that the steering on the E550 is not nearly as heavy as my current car. The car is still very responsive but the steering dynamics of the two are totally different.
