I say the headliner should come last on your list...if at all. The m-tech and rims should be done together....2 most key mods.

Where did you buy the car? Where are you flying to.....Is this it? http://www.autotrader.com/dealers/dda/deta...ler_id=40273320

Congrats on the ride. Once you start the mods, it won't stop. Just ask C's Bimmer....he'd mod his toes if he could, and he'd have good reason to.

Can't wait to see pics and Happy Holidays to you as well.

Bingo! That's it. I fly to Chicago tomorrow morning to pick her up. Weather permitting. Southwest cancelled half of the flights to Chicago today.

Why do dealers keep messing with your head. I was between one in Detroit & this one. The saleman from Detroit sent me an email telling me that Auburn interior is very hard to resell, which is why they just look for black/black to sell. Of course, the car I am getting has Auburn interior. He also said the dealer that I am purchasing from purchases a lot of BMW buy backs. I believe that because I ran a CarFax on some 535i's that they had and two of them came up Lemon Buyback. But, mine does not. I also have all the service records on the car.

So, what are your recommendations for me tomorrow when I check out the car before signing the papers?
- Verify the vehicle number on the CarFax report & service records matches?
- Anything else?

Thanks

You better know the difference between a factory paint job and a re-paint. Make sure you have it out in the light where you can really scan all of the panels and reflections, looking for imperfections or ripples in the paint or panels that might not match. The panels should obviously all be perfectly smooth and consistent from door to door, fender to hood, etc. I have attached a link for checklist when buying used cars.

And dealers keep messing with your head because they are doing their job. They just want your business, so I can't blame them for doing what it takes, as long as it's mostly true what they say. Truth and car salesmen, however...

I did hear that Chicago got smacked with some snow and scary driving conditions today.

She's home!

Flew to Chicago this morning, SA picked me up at Midway Airport, I spent 30 minutes going over the vehicle by myself, an hour later I was driving back to Cincinnati (5 1/2 hours) in my new 550i. Of course as soon as I got home I had to wash it. I'll assess it in the morning in daylight. Saw a few scratches that need to be addressed, but for a used car it looks great.
First impressions:
- lightening acceleration, smooth as silk (had a hard time keeping her under 90 mph)
- awesome Comfort Seats
- handling/steering soft compared to past 330's

No buyer's remorse yet. I even like the wheels better than I thought I would.

Thanks for the LCI info, unfortunately, mine isn't an LCI.

Like your OEM 166...where did you find them? Or did you order on car?

thanks, actually got the wheels from a member here...I had 124's ( I am assuming that's what you have on your car right now....)

you can contact gary at newport bmw: 25% of e60.net members (also no tax). The price for 166's from gary is ~1500 + shipping if I recall. If you are going to get them, make sure you order the M6 offsets, not the M5 offsets. There are numerous threads on this, short version...rear M6 offest sit closer to the fender (ET 17) vs M5 offsets (ET 28).

here's gary info..
