Following a thread on here with regard cold start problems starting a 525d (mines a e61 msport on a 05 plate), I booked mine in to the dealer to be checked as I was having similar problems. Interestingly though mine wasn?t a starter motor, but the glow plug control unit, which the dealer is replacing. The car has done 56,000 miles, so I not sure if this is to be expected or not, but I am glad I had it checked before the AUC warranty ran out!! I also mentioned that the i-drive was playing up and they are going to reformat it.

Hopefully if anyone else is experiencing similar problems, this may help. I am picking the car up tomorrow evening so will update you if the dealer has any more information.

Further to my earlier post, I collected my car from the dealers (Stratstones in Milton Keynes UK) on Friday and as well as replacing the glow plug control unit, which came from Germany. They also completed a full i-drive upgrade, so I have jumped from a 05 system to the latest 08 in one go. The good news it was all covered by the Approved Used Car Warranty, and to be honest I just said that the screen had a couple of times gone blanks and taken a while to reboot its self and they suggested the upgrade, didn't even query it.

So I know dealers get a hard time, but I was very impreseed with this, no hassle they even topped up the oil free of charge, and that never happens.

I did have a question with regard the new i-drive software, does this mean it should be easier to retrofit the ipod sytem (I have the media pack with the autochanger) and also are there any new tricks this asoftware can do, I have found the perspective view for the map, anything else?
