I'll report on the results. The UUC short shift kit is fantastic - this should be a good combination for me. If I don't like it, I'll just replace the OEM CDV - only about an hour of labor.

I never did like the CDV, but left it in the 540. Sometimes I would speed shift and at the optimal time it would act like the clutch was slipping badly. Lost a couple of drags that way.
