My Ride: '05 545 Titanium Silver, Black Leather - Nav, Logic 7, Cold weather.
Mods:
Carbon filter removed.
M5 iDrive knob.
Umnitza license plate LEDs.
MP3
40% 3M tint
ACS Anti-Roll(sway) bars
RPI Scoop
G-tech Pro RR
CF Roundels
CF Wheel caps
I like split screen! There might be less chance of updates, the new idrive nav data is stored on a hard drive rather than DVD, there's probably a major difference between the idrive hardware in these and our older e60s.

My Ride: 2006 BMW M5
I see the new 520i has 4 cylinders instead of I6 from older e60.
Also the new 535i has 286 HP instead of 300 hp from 2008 ???? See that pdf (Last pages)

I came across this on BMW's International (German language) site:
It clearly shows the new iDrive controller knob and new navigation screens. Also note the absence of the second (DVD) drive.
I know it's not a BMW NA catalog, but I think this is pretty convincing evidence that BMW has implemented the new controller and software into the E60's.

Hmm...not sure about this. Buttons and GUI are the same as in Audis...now every A3 or A4 owner is saying that they have the same graphix than in 5-series Beemer. Downgrading to me!
Many different car manufacturers are having same parts like aircon control, switches, etc. The fact that BMW is now in talks with Fiat is scary. Let's hope that F10 won't have any part from them...

My Ride: 2004 BMW 545i
some interesting stuff
1. love the full screen map...i personally think the split screen with two maps was a dumber decision than having the AC controls in idrive.
2. i see bmw online and the word google. also in the picture i see a weather forecast.
3. the steering wheel choice. i didn't know you can choose between styles like that. i love the way my 04 steering wheel looks compared to the circle design. but i'm not a traditional bmw driver. also the material of the non-circle one looks a little cheap compared to my 04 wheel.
4. the words soft-close automatic for the doors. i wonder if the doors will shut fully themselves now. i personally would rather it not, because every benz i know that does this ends up needing a repair on the striker.

My Ride: On order: 2009 535i Space gray metallic/cream beige and bamboo anthracite. Sport Package, CWP, LDW, CA, PDC, Rear seat heaters and side airbags, iPod/L7 and Nav.
I wonder if NAV updates will be done by loading a DVD into the main CD drive and allowing it to somehow copy to the hard drive? Any thoughts?
