I have an E61 with automatic transmission. A week ago I updated to CIP ver 30.02, and today I noticed that the gear selector light stays on after the car is locked. I'm quite sure that this used to go off a couple of minutes after the car was locked, or after about 16 minutes if the car was left unlocked.
Anyone experienced this, or has an explanation to what this may indicate?

Hi.
Some updateted information. The light next to the gear shifter shall go off after 30 minutes when the car enters the sleep mode. The fault seemed to have gone, but was back today. I talked to my dealer, and something is preventing the car from entering the sleep mode. It could be the IBS or Comfort Access module in one of the doors, or ... However, BMW will have a look on Friday.
I will keep you updated.

Hi.
According to the dealer the CAS (Car Access System) module is preventing the car from entering the sleep mode. They ordered a new one which they will fit next week.

Does anyone know why this light even needs to stay on at all, after locking the car?

What was the cost for it, where is it located?
My 2006 530i just developed the exact same symptom, I hope that the module will not drain my battery while parked!
